Cooking/Heating Information and Instructions for Ready to Eat (RTE) Sandwiches

While we recommend the following breakfast and lunch sandwich items are heated and/ or cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees, (as instructed on our Product Formulation Sheets (PFS), prior to serving), they are classified as "Ready to Eat (RTE)" which by definition is, "a food product prepared or cooked in advance, with no further cooking or preparation required before being eaten. Below is the instruction to heat our “RTE” products using a microwave oven prior to consuming: (For Best Results for all sandwiches, Thaw before heating). *(Microwave ovens vary; adjust time accordingly to heat product) Microwave:

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches:

From Thawed State

  1. Open one end of the package or pierce with ½ to 1” cut
  2. Place on microwave safe plate
  3. Microwave 40-50 seconds; or until heated thoroughly

From Frozen State – Heat on lower setting if possible and for 60-90 seconds or until heated thoroughly.

For a more traditional crunchy Grilled Cheese, remove from package after microwaving place on pre-heated pan or griddle for 30-45 seconds on each side or until bread is crisped or brown to preference.

Other RTE IW Sandwiches include: (Breakfast, Chicken, Chili Dog & Burgers):

Thawed State

  1. Open one end of the package or pierce with ½ to 1” cut
  2. Place on microwave safe plate
  3. Microwave 40-50 seconds; or until heated thoroughly

From Frozen State – Heat for 60-90 seconds or until heated thoroughly

**CAUTION– ALLOW ALL ITEMS TO COOL FOR 2-3 MINUTES PRIOR TO REMOVING FROM PACKAGE TO PREVENT BURNING FROM STEAM.
